29th May 2019

Vietnam: An Epic Tragedy, 1945-1975 has been selected for the shortlist of the Council on Foreign Relations’ 2019 Arthur Ross Book Award.

CFR’s Arthur Ross Book Award is a significant award that honors nonfiction works that make an outstanding contribution to the understanding of foreign policy or international relations. Endowed by Arthur Ross in 2001, this prize recognizes books that bring forth new information that can change our understanding of events or problems; develop analytical approaches that allow new and different insights into a key issue; or provide new ideas to help resolve foreign policy problems.

Along Vietnam, this year’s shortlist includes:

These Truths: A History of the United States (Jill Lepore)

AI Superpowers: China, Silicon Valley, and the New World Order (Kai-Fu Lee)

Churchill: Walking With Destiny (Andrew Roberts)

Leadership: In Turbulent Times (Doris Kearns Goodwin)

Presidents of War (Michael Beschloss)

The recipients of the gold medal, silver medal, and bronze medal will be announced this autumn.
